w,a,s,d = movement
q and e = rotate camera
x = use/cancel mattock
r = restart
d-pad = movement
shoulder buttons = rotate camera
'a' = use/cancel mattock
start = restart
Your character can only jump up one block at a time. Try rotating the camera to look for staircases or make your own using mattocks!
The damage you take from melee enemies is based on your height compared to them. Jump down from above to take 0 damage.
Ranged enemies cannot shoot you if you are above them, so try to use a higher path to loop around.
Reach the target height and a door will appear. Enter it to progress to the next level (there are more than 5 levels).

Liked it, but it does feel too repetitive after a short while. But it was fun nonetheless and that's what's most important when playing a game.

Very innovative Idea that goes super well with the theme, the RNG sometimes felt too random, creating unwinnable scenarios, but the game had so many small mechanics and options that most of the time you could figure out something to do if you planned in advance.
Overall quite a fun experience, with really good music, and an even better concept.

This was fun game and idea, well done :) The music was good, but it started get repetative eventually ^^" Though it is good that you had sound effects, they were not that good itself. But their existence is a plus. Well done with your entry :)

Really cool game, nice music too. The sound effects weren't that good though.
It can get a little hard to deal with everything and mistakes can leave you stuck for a while. I think this is the biggest issue here, you can be in a state where you can't do much besides wait for your demise or the stairs to fall in a good way :(
But I don't expect jam games to be very well balanced so that's not a big issue (except when you fall in a 1*1 hole :3). Oh and the way you can deal with ennemies lower than you is an interesting idea!

Thanks for the feedback! Sound effects are definitely not my strong point :)
I tried to remedy the issue of feeling stuck down the bottom (with a little nudging to where the blocks fall and the mattocks), but I didn't want to remove the tactical element of trying to stay high while still collecting.

Loved the sounds and music. I didn't realize I could rotate the screen so I was a bit blind at times. Overall I really love the idea and I think it was executed well.

Simple in theory, difficult in practice. Good job on making a very fun and challenging game! The only feedback I can think of is that small details to the game might have added a good touch (Things like animations, juice, etc) but the simple style goes well with the simple game rules but hard gameplay.
