'Moon shines so bright, I cannot sleep tonight. Please little ones, do me favor: darken the light and be my savior.' - Mama Troll.
The young trolls have an idea to help their Mama, just switch off the moon. And they will build tower to reach the skies. As we humans know better, this will be impossible task, but trolls are not going to give up.
Windows Game resolution is 1920x1080, starts fullscreen, can be changed to windowed by F4.
Controls: WASD / Arrow Keys
Interact: E, X, Shift
Jump: Z, Control, Space
Change Troll: TAB, Enter, or numbers 1, 2, 3
Restart: R
Fullscreen/Window: F4
Here is video of Android port: https://youtu.be/U7XKzrebDQU
Game can be finished.
( Oh by the way, Trolls are missing their tails if you compare two previous games. I decided they were too hard to animate. )
( Walking animation for Trolls consist 3 sprites, for up and down it totals 6 sprites. Squishiness and especially little jumping gives more life to animation. )

Very good! I'd say everythings perfect (if it can be) except the (at least for me) unnatural controls and trolls falling through each other when jumping on other trolls. But that's little bugs. I also brought that troll mom to the moon, but nothing happened. Maybe you want add an alternative ending, like losing to that situation? (and here I am again throwing my bad ideas at people who propably don't want it. Shame, jhmikael!) But as conculsion, I think it is really good + I'm propably bad in giving feedback, as I don't have any experience of game jams (yet), so it makes it propably really really good.

Hello, thanks you for feedback and playing my game way past of jam.
Yes I had bug, that everything Troll holds isn't counted as 'solid' but you went through it. I broke accidently z-collision at end of jam, which made game unplayable, I tried fix this bug and managed to get everything to Works. Expect that edge case ^^"
Game has one ending only, I think I have video on other feedback comment. But your idea was funny, so instead of switching of the moon you could tease Mama Troll by bringing her even closer to it (or throwing her at moon).
You need to build enough high staircase and then make final "Troll Tower" by picking up a Troll who has Picked up a Troll already. This way you have three trolls on top of each other (they are holding each other, therefore Bug is not present). Highest Troll can then reach the Switch, otettu much you need to be next to it and see smile of Moon.

This game is very cute and charming. It has a lot of soul to it, which is something (that from what I've seen so far) is hard to capture in just 48 hours. The puzzle is good, it's a fun cycle of getting stuck and having to figure out new ways to get tower even higher. The controls were definitely the lowest point for me, but after a bit they become natural.
Overall very good! :)

I love your games so much.
I'm a fan of Stephen's Sausage Roll so the controls were fine with me, but I'm a little mad a the fact that R resets the whole game since it's right besides E... I may have pressed reset a few step before turning off the moon the first time...
Like it's been said below, it's too much of the same thing to be really interesting, but it's a lovely game anyways.

Thanks :) Yeah, there isn't much to play, and sorry about Reset ^^" I used Arrow keys + ZX so much on playtesting that I didn't remember you can accidently press R with WASD+E

Great atmosphere, loved the art and animations, everything was fluid and responsive. Really felt polished (in a very good way). The voice over was a nice touch, really added to the storytelling feel. Good work man!

Thanks :) I wanted make more narration during building phase, like sidecomments from narrator about Trolls behaviour (if you decide run outside play area etc.). But computers mic had too much noise, and I used phone to record, it was bit too much hassle to get those to computer.

The super slow and subtle camera movement,, the slow bouncing of lights and trees, the soft light that shines from above: All these things usually aren't considered important especially in short gamejams, but everything feels so alive and beautiful because of it. You did a lovely job on the immersion, Tero

Thanks for noticing those little things ^^ The bounciness do give the lifeliness, at first Troll's didn't even hop when they moved, I accidently found it better. Just for fun, I made short video where I have taken bounciness of everything, and also that small camera movement: https://imgur.com/a/R0uKMC6
And here is normal video to compare to https://youtu.be/U7XKzrebDQU

Cute and simple! It has some concepts that I usually doesn't see in GM48, isometric perspective, voice acting, and hand drawn art. But I wouldn't call it fun. There isn't really any challenge and building the stair takes forever. But the very pleasing art and sound makes up for that :D
Also, you are a really great person! I have seen your feedback in every game I've played, and you're super constructive. It's great that you take the time to help other game developers (including me) to improve!

Thank you for feedback :) Yes, that was one of the reasons why I chose isometric, is that there wouldn't be many others. Eventually only Crumbling Castello has similar perspective (which is also worth of playing ;) ). But this perspective of course makes representing height bit difficult, made things go darker, lower they are to camera. As gameplaywise, yes, there isn't much to play. I wanted to some puzzles, use more of all Trolls, etc. But as result, game is now just soothing and relaxing to play.
And thank you for your kind words ^^

Trolls bedtime, is interesting but boring after a while because the state of the games does not go through any changes during the whole duration of the game itself.
The accent was a particularly good accent of the game. yes.

Watched the stream, thanks for playing :) The 'Troll Tower' was intended way to reach the moon at the end (Pick a Troll with a Troll who has picked up a Troll), it was fun to see your solution, you just barely managed to jump there :D Here my way https://imgur.com/a/5Lq5sgi (you can see moon's smile, which you couldn't)

Best game I played so far. Really nice, and I was really curious of what would happen when you get to the moon. But I didn't make it, it took a bit too long for me, I really thought I had it but it wasn't large enough.
Anyway, I loved the voice acting, so funny, so nice, and the sounds fit the mood. Very good entry.

Thank you for playing :) Ah, on the last you have to have pick up Trolls on top of each other to make 'Troll tower' :D But the ending is a bit underwhelming as I was running out of time. I'll capture video, I'll edit link in this comment.
These jams are timeoriented, but I still used precious time for visiting gf's friend who is building house, and other day interviewed people for my thesis: puff there goes 5 hours ^^" Also I decided to sleep well both nights, didn't bargain sleep quality this time.
The code is a mess, and especially Z-axis collision, which I broke in last hours, I was in panic to get it fixed :D I managed to put input buffer there, yay.
There ya go: https://imgur.com/a/5Lq5sgi

The game is quite beautifull and has this really chill vibe to it. I especially love the characters, they look great :) The concept is also quite unique, I have never seen a game before where you stack your fellow trolls on top of stones on top of trolls ^^
One thing I didn't really like that much, was the control scheme. I did get used to it after a while though. Perhaps it would have been easier to control by clicking the tiles, but that is a wild guess.

Really nice game with a chill vibe. I couldn't figure out how to actually get to the moon though, so dang close but nothing I was thinking of would get me any closer...but its pretty late so my brain don't work too good, haha.

Wow really nice atmosphere and art style and animations! I really enjoyed building a tower with my little hardworking trolls. Very robustly made, feels very well-thought through and consistent - I loved finding out that you can pick up your troll mom too! That was a really cute detail :)

Thanks you :) At some point you could pick up trees also, but it didn't fit in nature of Trolls. Codewise, the game might work with longer slabs, but didn't have to time to test them.

Another game about the trolls :D
This was super charming. The art, the sound, the narration, all combines to create a really nice, calming atmosphere! Very well done.
The tank controls are definitely an acquired taste... maybe normal d-pad controls would've also felt weird with the isometric view, so.. idk where I'm going with this
I pressed enter on the end screen and got this crash.

Thank you :)
Yes, the controls were not good. D-pad didn't work that well, maybe with gamepad would get diagonal movement better. But then again turning would have changed. It's hard to make good controls with isometric ^^"
Whoops, I forgot to fix that crash :D Camera tries find trolls to change target to, but there are none and list of trolls is empty. I made so, that you can have arbitary number of trolls in game, and you can change between all of them.

I love a soothing game like this, despite not quite getting on with the controls it was remarkably therapeutic stacking up rocks. And trees. And, uh, my identical siblings!
Beautifully presented with a great ambient backing track and well done voice recording as well.

Thanks :) Mama was also pickable ^^
It is quite hard to make good controls for isometric ^^" First I thought making free roaming, but knew stacking would become problem. I also wanted to have narrative during the stacking, but it was too much of hassle to record with phone and then send it to computer etc., because the computer mic had to much noise.

I thought the gameplay to be a bit dull at first, but ended up having a blast with this game!

Thank you :) This was third instalment on Troll games ^^
Yeah, I wanted to make more gameplay, now you just build the tower. I had ideas where player needs to use all of the trolls in some 'puzzles'. And different kind of things to build tower. During dev. you could move the trees, but it didn't fit on nature of trolls.
