yeah this one sucked, I didn't have much time that weekend so I went with the first idea I thought of and made a game in about 10 of the 48 hours
Collect batteries while navigating the labyrinth in your basement. Use your flashlight to help see, but be careful not to use it too long, or else you will run out of batteries and have to restart.
MOVE - Arrow Keys
TOGGLE FLASHLIGHT - Space
RESTART LEVEL - R
I know it's not a good game, but I was sort of busy and ran out of time to make something actually decent. I just immediately thought of the pun and went all in without trying to think of something better.

Funny concept! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the GM48 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/Lt8bNQTICns

Labyrinths are just not fun :(
Also there seems to be a bug with the flashlight, the batteries drain kinda arbitrarily, and the power left is only shown if you have 0. And huh... if you use ANY battery you can't progress... ?SubmittedOliver the Torchbearer

I had to change the contrast and gamma and stuff on my display to be able to see anything while not using the torch, but damn
that was pretty badass.

As always your style is pretty silly and enjoyable. The graphics fit the tone well, plus the music and sound effects are very solid.
However, the actual gameplay is pretty lackluster. You just slowly search a maze with a very limited view since you don't want to waste batteries when you need them to progress. There aren't any obstacles (expect for the fire which is easily avoided) or time restrictions so there's no real challenge either. The dialogue did mention a Minotaur in the labyrinth. I know that was just a contrived justification for why the labyrinth exists, but I think the game could actually be a lot more interesting if there was a monster you had to contend with while looking for batteries.

The story was charming with highlights of comedy, and the game itself fits very well, being so light hearted. Initially I was a bit on edge about the Minotaur, but equally disappointed when it didn't exist. I feel like that would have tipped the scale a bit in terms of gameplay. It doesn't sell itself to be anything but a labyrinth with a storyline, and that's what I got. On that note, I went through the game without using the flash light. The ending was swell as well.

I wish you'd get away from mazes for a bit. The game humour is spot on. I mean, it's preposterous in relation to the gameplay; it's light, effective and dumb. Good humour you know. But to get to that, we gotta deal with a maze that doesn't offer much, and with a flashlight you basically never use since you need the batteries to go to the next level.
To be honest I feel like you should dig your humour in a different way. It's there. It can do stuff. But the game itself is the issue, as Proble said. I feel like the gameplay on its own acts as an obstacle while it should be a mean to an end.
The ending made me genuinely laugh though, it's so dumb and light. Keep doing that please! With a more appropriate gameplay

The story is very funny and the flashlight mechanic is a good use of the theme.

Great pun, kinda bad game though.
The gameplay felt pretty repetitive, and the campfires basically had the same purpose as the walls, making for a really boring experience. I love your dialogue though, and it makes up for everything else.
