S.I.D. is a cyberpunk platformer where you must take physical enhancing drugs to navigate and escape a hostile facility.
The physical enhancing drugs give your character special abilities such as super jump and super speed, but reduce your health.

Neat game. I included it in my compilation video series of all of the GM48 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/UEdGTFt7opw

Please please please look up ghost jumping and implement that into all future platformer games you guys make.

Gave up because of the jump + text box getting in the way (and the fact that it repeats the same things), but the music was very good!

Ay! So, first of all, the controls feel rather weird. You jump pretty vertically and don't get enough momentum, at first. You needing powerups to jump "normally" feels a bit strange cause it's either you jump high, eitheer you jump far (cause you go so fast). I'd say the issue, for me, is that the drugs are miles away from your initial speed (the jump is okay, but again, too vertical). It feels even stranger in the last level where you alternate speed; what made that part difficult for me was that more than anything else. Second, the text box seem to scale the text in a weird manner (they're "half pixels") and i don't think it should be so low rez since the rest of the game is much higher rez.
That said, pretty immersive! It's nice that it has a story and that you have some kind of goal. I think the cliffhanger at the end is a pretty nice touch! ...too bad it's kinda ruined by the game restarting xD I think it would have worked way better if the game just closed when you touch the beam!

Hello! Thanks for playing S.I.D and leaving your feedback! I've made sure to share this amongst the rest of the team to ensure they see this.

The story and music give i nice atmospere, controls are a bit hard to master. The elevator part is really cool :)
On my laptop with a 1366x768 resolution the game ran distorted (flat) so reading the textbox was really hard, also a part of the screen was cutted.

Nice feel and sound but text box should probably be moved to avoid interfering with game play but it sounds like you might have that sorted already. I'd also look at alternatives for the type face in the text boxes, it was a little hard to read.

The thumbnail and the intro of the game set up a good mood.
However, I got discouraged when I started playing the game. The text box covers the platforms and it takes a while to disappear. It doesn't help either that the game lags (not sure if it's only for me).
Aside from that, I do love the music and the art. The vibes that they bring match pretty well.

Hey Gofico, thanks for checking out S.I.D and giving us a rating! I'm afraid we aren't familiar with this lag issue, however, I'm going to try and recreate any framerate issues. If you're able to respond: do you know how long you were playing for?
EDIT: We managed to figure out what the cause of this issue was, thank you for your feedback!

I ended up giving up partway through because of the stiff jumping. The atmosphere was great (especially the music!), but the amount of text (particularly when it blocks the platforms you need to jump on) was a little much.

Hi Panda! Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you liked the atmosphere we created and my music! If we continue working on the project, we'll definitely work on making the jump feel better. We completely agree that the text gets in the way so we'd address that for sure. Thanks for playing our game!

I love the idea behind the story even if it's not the most original one, you managed to make a really immersive experience despite the kinda basic controls and duration of the game, mostly thanks to the dialogue and music (which I really liked).
Overall a solid entry.

Thanks for the feedback! It's great that you found the experience immersive. I'm glad you liked my music and enjoyed the story even if it's ended up being pretty cliche. If we continue to work on the game, we'd like to make it last longer and add more complexity in the mechanics and controls.

The visuals, dialogue and music all set up a great atmosphere for the game. It's just a shame it's so short that there isn't much payoff for the cool style. It's not like the game that's there is bad or anything - the controls feel nice and the base mechanics are solid - I just wish there was more of it. Sacrificing health to get power-ups seems like a cool concept and a good use of the theme, but again the length of the game means you barely get to see the concept used before it's over.
TL;DR What's here is cool, but I wish it was longer.

Hey Veralos, thank you for checking out S.I.D! Believe me when I say we all wish it was longer too, however, we ran out of time before we could produce more content for the project and I like to think we've all learned a thing about how to approach developing future projects.
We are talking about further developing S.I.D as everyone involved had a blast, however, at this point in time, we aren't sure.

The music and story were good for setting the mood of the game, but sometimes the text got in the way of platforms and took a while to finish so I could see where I was jumping. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to finish the game, because some of the jumps were just too difficult for me.

Thanks DifferentName for checking out our game! We appreciate the constructive criticism. If we continue to develop the game, we'll definitely playtest the difficulty and make sure the dialogue doesn't get in the way of the platforming.
