In DyeDrop you must select the color you want to drop and fill the bucket with the same color as the bucket (starts with white). There are random effects that occur as you progress levels and click.

Instructions:

  • You left click the color boxes to select a color and left click in the gray rectangle at the top to drop
  • You need to fill the bucket with the same color as as the bucket to 100% to continue
  • The vertical bar on the left is your bucket progress and the bar on the right is your level progress

No time for a title screen, options, audio, scoring system (number of clicks), polish, or ending. The game restarts at the end.

Things I learned in the jam:

  • First time playing around with physics particles
  • Finally learned how to lerp (still a lot more to learn)
  • I now know more about how GMS2 handles color than I want to, but I had fun making the color matching algorithm

Known bugs:

  • There's an infinite loop hang right before the last level I didn't notice until after submission =( You will have to force close it.

I love physics based games, and this plays into physics as well as merging colors. The entire process feels so artisty and fun and satisfying! There were some few technical issues / crash, and a overall lack of gui, but those are fixable given enough time. It was fun to experience!

I stuck in the grey stage.

The physics mechanism was impressive! I tried to minimize clicking so I played it tactically, testing projectary with small dots and filling it with big circles was a great experience! But as the obstacles move it became almost impossible to predict result, so then I just spammed clicks, though it was fun, too.

Anyway, thank you for the great game!

Great job on the fluid, would've been nice to hear some sounds when adding fluid or maybe on collision too though that might get hectic. I managed to get the gray at the end though it was hard to tell what color it was supposed to be cause the bar looked white. Really nice take on the theme, I had a lot of fun thanks!

Got all the way to the part where it crashes. This is honestly really impressive stuff. The particles are cool, but what's really impressive is the color change mechanic. That's flippin' awesome. Really great job

I think you've created a fun physics engine here but some detail needs to go in to the gui design a little, it's not very clear when the size of the blobs you make change shape and it's very unclear that the squares on the top-left are not in-fact buttons but indicators of what's in the level - these small factors are just minor issues though. That aside, I did enjoy the nice puzzle element and the physics of mixing goop to make the right colour in this - I have a feeling you're planning on expanding this in to a phone title (by the vertical orientation) and this is a solid foundation to do so, it needs some tweaks on the interface and some sound but it's a solid start to make an interesting puzzle, good job!

Love me some physics puzzles. The color blending looked awesome!

Interesting game. I included it in my GM48 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/gQOVaoF4Jeg

Nice and casual and relaxing up until the part where you have to keep your computer from dying to the infinite loop at the end. I enjoy mixing colors so I enjoyed this game quite a lot, could've gone for more complicated colors though. Particularly having one level for each basic color was unneccessary and redundant. Usually a game not having sound is a big problem but it didn't seem so bad in this case. Still, it would've been a nice addition (see, sidelong). Not sure where the side effects are though.

I really enjoyed the physics of the game. I just liked to see the balls explode into several peices. I got pretty far into the game, but I know I cheated by mashing the mouse button to make a ton of dye drop! Overall enjoyable!

I had a good time messing with the physics, especially watching the little blobs explode when you place multiple in the same location haha. As it went on I had some trouble particularly with the moving boxes though, it seemed like the movement would cause the dye to jump out from the bucket a little much.

really nice twist on the theme of this year, it's always nice to experiment on the jam and it working! have a nice day great game :)

Took me a lot of clicks, but I got through all the levels! It was a bit annoying how the dye would bounce out of the bucket, but I assume that's just physics engine stuff. I really liked the concept of the last level :D

pretty sick, I think could've focused more on color mixing aspects, was a bit tough to navigate with all the moving bits, but lots of potential. the simulated particles are really good.
