Wasn't able to do as much as I could, being in a different time zone I lost out on a bit of time and didn't get to complete all of the tasks I had in mind. I tried to make everything very smooth and have a good system.

Enjoy.

Cute dinos! I included it in my GM48: Countdown compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/WM7q7yEUpUY

Gonna reiterate on Fachewa's statement, don't use art assets made from outside the jam. Also I agreee on Veralos' feedback!

Also, there seems to be mixels (mixing different levels of pixel resolutions togetheer). The tiles seem of a bigger rez than the character sprites, and the character sprites seem of a bigger rez than the explosion. The last one might be an optical illusion but it read as such to me?

Cute Dinos, but it lacks polish

Cute dinos. Sound is too loud.

Also don't listen to Acr515, putting music made out of the jam in your game, even if free, is a good way to get disqualified.

The concept is pretty simple but it works well enough. Fighting enemies is fun for a while and it's pretty challenging how quickly you die. The dino sprites look really nice and the explosion effect is cool too. The sounds work well enough I suppose.

One thing it really needs is some feedback when the bullets hit enemies - it's unsatisfying just watching enemies soak up bullets without any response. One other thing I would've liked is for a high score to show up after you die. Even just a quick message saying "You killed X enemies" would be nice.

Thanks man, I actually rectified this problem just after releasing the game and made it so when there was a collision with the bullet, the character would flash red with the help of an alarm and then change back, but I got locked out of my GMS2 license sadly so I couldnt continue it at all aha.

Cool game! Really liked the artwork, and the explosion when characters died!

The cursor is a very nice touch, and the minimal UI is great.

We also made an arena shooter for our game, so it's cool to see other takes on the genre.

    Hey there!

The foundations for a solid game are definitely here: your sprites are awesome and the gameplay is there (even if it's unfinished).

Most of what I was gonna say was already suggested. I would also suggest adding background music. It's a subtle touch, but it would help the mood of the game a lot. If you don't know where to look, Free Music Archive has a great selection of Creative Commons-licensed music for this genre of game.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks man! I'll try and fix the stuff that should be fixed obviously, but I was thinking something was missing when I was testing it and BGM seems to tick that box. I'll add some and try and smooth out the other problems! Cheers man!

What I loved: 1- The art! Amazing dinos! 2- The fact that you can't win just by staying still and shooting.

Things I'd recommend: 1- The enemies should die faster, I think it's way more engaging that way. You also die way too fast, compared to the enemies. 2- There's a very very high chance of an enemy spawning right beside you, instantly killing you. Easily fixed with a point_distance, for example, and makes all the difference in the world. 3- The player should invert when walking backwards, it's a little detail that makes a good difference. The art is good! Make use of it 4- A little animation for the spawning of enemies would be a great addition! It not only would feel good, but it affects the gameplay as you'd have time to think and move!

I'd especially recommend you watch the Jan WIllem Nijman talk "The Art of Screenshake". There's great potential here!

Thanks a heap! I'll try and fix the whole enemies spawning too close to the players. Also, is Jan Willem the Vlambeer guy? I was actually trying to do something else with the camera which made it so when you moved your mouse towards the edge of the screen, it would move the camera a bit more in that direction.

What did you mean by inverting the player when walking backwards as well, kinda confused by that one. Anyways, cheers. I'll try and get everything lookin good to try and make it a bit better of a game and try and develop it more.

Pretty similar to what my team made, but much more well executed in my opinion. I love your sprite work, and I think the sound effects fit the feel of the game perfectly.

I would have loved to hear some 8-bit music or something of the sort in the background, but I understand how much missing some time can hurt a project.

Overall, I'd say this is very good work and an enjoyable play.

I really like the cute dinos!

Sometimes the enemies spawn super close, and you don't have time to avoid them. There also didn't seem to be much consistency in how many spawn at different points in the run. My third run spawned lots of enemies in the first wave (maybe a bug?)

Something like power-ups or different enemy types would help spice this up :)

I'll try and look into that spawning in the first wave, but it's mostly up to chance with where enemies spawn (down with irandom_range and if statements) which could be why so many spawned in your third run through. I wanted to try fixing the progression by maybe decreasing the range of which I'm looking for when the time value reaches a certain point.

Cheers anyways, I'll try and work on it a bit more!

There is not much to do here and it doesn't feel specially good to do it, you are traped in an arena dinos spawn randomly with no telegraph an you can shoot the with your gun
