I found the tutorial is helpful, really let me hit the ground running to get the grip of the game and the controls. Helped my immersion a lot.

You've got a bunch of really exciting visual stuff going on as well. Like the flying gulls are super cool. I love the shadows of them on the ground. I think they were flying below the palm tree leaves on the layer but not a big deal :P

Think you really nailed the fun exploring vibe. The gulls being one of them but you had all these little delightful details. They didn't add to the gameplay but they really added to my enjoyment. Loved sailing the ocean and seeing the fish jump out of it for example.

You also made it a nice relaxing game to play. Love I didn't have to walk all the way back to my boat when going on an island. I could just turn into a boat at anytime. Think that choice made exploring a lot easier and not a pain at all.

I did wish I didn't have to hold down ctrl to be zoomed out though.

I liked the feeling of discovering things like the map. When I discovered a new thing like the map, the sail... it was really fun and surprising.

Visually, the trail on the boat also looks really cool. Music was great and fit the game perfectly.

Wild story. Didn't expect the ending.

    Nice work!

Visually, an insanely cool game. I can see that a lot of work went into polishing every little bit of this. There are also tons of other cool details-- whether it be the light that shines on an item pedestal when you click it, the seagulls leading you to land, or the fish that jump out of the water as you sail around.

That being said, the gameplay is extremely minimal. It really just comes down to wandering around until you get the map, and then beelining straight for the items. When going from point A to point B, there should be something I can do so I don't feel like I'm just waiting around-- usually, that's combat, or puzzles. It could totally be something else though, no need to feel boxed in by tradition: maybe you have to tack your sail based on the direction of the wind, or navigate by looking at the stars above. As it is right now, though, it feels like a lot of aimless wandering and waiting.

Definitely one of the most polished games this jam-- I just wish that there was more of a base here to get polished in the first place. Overall, though, nice work! Very professional

EDIT: Also, love the music, and for some reason I thought the ending was funny. So bonus points for that (:

      Thank you for the feedback!

You're totally right! The original plan was for basically a huge scary blobby mess of crabs to be constantly following and threatening you (see key art above), but wouldn't you know it, there weren't even crabs in the game until literally the last 30 minutes. I thought it would be especially funny for a game called CRAB not contain any actual crabs, but alas, they made it (as decorations). :)

Definitely gonna expand on the actual gameplay aspects past the jam!

If there's one thing I really love and admire, it's procedural generation! I think a unique experience every time you play makes a game infiniatley more playable, that and the beautiful graphics, this is a solid entry for sure!

I was a little uncertain at first because it took me some time to find the map and I was beginning to feel a little bit stranded, the entertainment really hangs in the balance of how quickly you stumble across that map, otherwise you could be infinatley sailing along an ocean, though I imagine that sense of lost, aimless exploration is kind of the point, plus the map makes it a lot easier to find the rest and I understand it takes away from building an experience for the player, totally understandable why you made that choice, plus the relief of finding the map makes all the aimless seraching worth it!

This is a solid and beautiful entry that ticks all the right boxes and then some, great job! :)

Thank you very much!! I've been watching your YouTube videos on the jam games and I was excited to see that you played. :)

Had my laptop on my lap, ran your game and now my trousers are on fire. Who would win? 16GB of RAM or One Sandy Boi. My hotplate broke but luckily now I can just fry my morning egg on my CPU running your game ;)

The experience of sailing the peaceful sea with the lovely music and occasional seagulls was very relaxing. I had expected to frantically fighting crabs in this game but was I pleasantly surprised.

Holy crap, this is so freaking impressive. Kudos on putting 45 hours into this; it certainly shows! The graphics are incredible, as are the various shaders and effects (my PC could only handle it at the lowest possible setting, but it looks amazing regardless). The game really evokes that feeling of exploration and discovery that I love. Music is also fantastic and fits perfectly. Incredible work!

Great game, I really enjoyed it! I also liked the mix between the 3d and 2d artstyle.

I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, but I think the framerate(or is it room speed) is capped at 30 at full settings.

It would be better if you could make the object speeds constant regardless of the settings. Maybe a patch after the jam?

    Overall, great game!

Thanks for trying it! It should run at 60 if the computer can handle it but it's a super effects heavy game at full settings. Also vsync is turned on and I'm not sure if that can cause problems on certain monitors. I'm going to keep working on it for a while for sure, so keep an eye on the updates at the bottom of the page. :)

Wow! This is a really interesting and fun game. Great graphics and details like shadowing, etc. Awesome work.

  • Junction Games

This is really cool. It's really impressive how many things you got working in this time. The art and shaders are great and the procedural generation is awesome. Great job!

  • Om Rane

Interesting premise, sort of like a treasure hunt. Unfortunately I was not able to complete the game as it was not running well on my laptop.

Thanks for trying! Did you try the low graphics mode? (Press End ingame to turn all the fancy stuff quickly.)

      • Om Rane

I tried it, but still was lagging. I'm unsure as to why this happened. There is probably some problem on my end :(

  • Chris

Impressive amount of content in this game and amazing visuals
