Description

UNFINISHED

This was our first GM48, and we were definitely not prepared for the 48 hour development time, having only done ludum dare's in the past. This unfortunately means that this submission remains incomplete, with no win-state, no music, missing art assets, and missing sounds. If that sounds enjoyable to you, you are welcome to take a look at the concept, as the first two-thirds of the game-functionality was implemented.

Summary

Little Tree, submitted as an unfinished game for the 34th gm(48) jam, impressed players with its detailed animations, art, and creative mechanics. Reviewers appreciated the game's foundation, multiple stages, and subtle details despite some bugs and difficulty in aiming catapults. While some noted the game's unfinished state and wished for shorter levels or additional content, overall feedback was encouraging and hopeful for future development.

For an unfinished game this is pretty dang good. The art is nice, there's multiple stages with different enemies and mechanics, plus there's sound effects (more than I can say for my "finished" game). The game seemed to break in the third stage but I enjoyed what I played and I like what you were going for.

A little buggy, a little difficult (in the first stage), but a lot of fun. And I was not expecting the next level haha! Nice work :)

I don't know how many phases this was but it was fun to see my tree to grow in planetary size :D I didn't like catapults because tree just swung around, it was hard to aim, but luckily you got extra ones from bug when you lost. I laughed when gun just popped after I had beaten first phase and grew in size ^^ I don't know was there anything to do in planetary size, atleast it seemed so as I waited for a while.

48hours is short, extra day must do wonders.

Might be unfinished, but this was still super rad!!

I died a few times, and the catapults stayed on the screen, so on my "succesful" I had 3 catapults lol. I really didn't expect the second stage, that got a good chuckle out of me :D

Same thing happened to me in stage 3 as Fachewa commented about below :v

Wow, I really didn't expect that, and I absolutely loved it.

I just wish levels weren't that long, especially since people might give up on the first level and not see that amazing transition.

One thing that kinda helped me is that the first catapult "stayed" when I restarted after dying one, and stayed untill level 3 (where I destroy the thing I was standing on by shooting it)

I'm sorry to hear that y'all couldn't finish it, and because of that giving feedback is a bit difficult (I'm sure y'all know what you would have liked to add)

But I'd just like to say that I really really like the concept of a cute little tree tower-defense-ish game. What's there is good, so good job on submitting something and better luck next time :D

Some of the tech in the game is pretty nice, like the arching aim lines and the way the tree sways. Solid foundation, hope you keep developing it

Awesome start to a game! I'm glad you submitted it even though it's unfinished. I love the art and animations. There are lots of subtle details like how the water bounces off the leaves, the two small people controlling the catapult and the dead ants stacking up (there's probably a lot more I missed).

Wow, this game has a lot more content then I expected for a game labeled "Unfinished"! I really like the animations that the trees have. I would definitely like to see a full version of this game :)
