The King has been poisoned! And it's your job - you're the Royal Alchemist, after all - to brew an antidote.

Only one problem: To know which poison has been used, you need to know the symptoms... And the only way to know the symptoms is to take the poison yourself.

You'll have 60 seconds to identify the poison, find the correct recipe, and brew a potion - to save the King and yourself!

Royalchemist is a Puzzle game, in which you decant raw ingredients into essences, which you can then stir and mix in a match-4 minigame.

Ingest the poison, cross reference your symptoms to the list of poison to find out what you're dealing with, and find the correct antidote to deal with it. You have 60 seconds before the poison takes you out!

Now, it was a solo game jam, so I want to put up a disclaimer: This is definitely more of a proof of concept than a finished product - it's missing sounds, music, player feedbacks, polish, and a hefty dose of balance. Regardless, I hope that you have fun playing it! Thank you for your time.

I really like the concept and story of this. It's quite clever. However I do feel it asks a lot of the player for 60 seconds. There's a lot of text to go through and then combinations to learn which is very overwhelming to begin with. You can certainly do multiple playthroughs but even then there is a lot to remember. However I do like the idea and gameplay behind it all I just think it could be refined further and I hope you do decide to continue it post jam. The presentation of the whole game was really well done. I did find an issue where I was able to pull the book out of the way and not be able to pull it back on screen (To be honest I did it on purpose to see if it was possible. Turns out it is).

But overall I like what you have and with some improvements I think you could have a really cool puzzle game here. Great work.

Very polished game! Felt very immersed with the storytelling and the backstories behind the poisions. Artwork was nice! Reminded me a little of battlechef brigade but that's just because I very recently finished it. I love the combining mechanic. Stirring by rotating the gems was really neat.

Appreciate the tutorial inside the game. I think that heightened my immersion. And the dragging the book to reference your brew is a lot of fun.

Really creative interpretation of the theme. Though you had no music, the sound effects you had fit the game well.

Fascinating concept. What you have here is impressive; I'd love to see it more fleshed-out after the Jam.

There's a really neat concept for a game here! I like how the rotation mechanic serves the dual purpose of moving around elements, as well as stirring them. Identifying which potion to brew based on symptoms is a cool idea, though obviously a bit limited in it's current state. I can see a lot of potential here with with the addition of various different poisons, antidotes, ingredients, etc.

The presentation is also really nice. The book is well written and detailed even in it's limited state. It does a good job of explaining the game. The artwork is very pleasing and makes it easy to tell each element of the game apart. The audio is farily limited but gets the point scross well enough.

Whoops, pushed the book into the corner and now I can't unpush it. :(

I brewed up the correct antidote after accidentally taking the poison before I knew everything and wouldn't you know it, the first poison I read about (venomnomnomnom) was the poison. Was a scramble to make it. Somewhat disappointed it ended rather abruptly with just the "You're safe" note. Doesn't seem to be a way to restart to do it again (asides from escape, but then you have to do the entire tutorial stuff again). Due to the way things are set up, you can actually brew everything you need for all the possible antidotes ahead of time.

Puns were off the wall :P

Pretty fun game, but very complicated. I never really figured it all out.

It's a really well made game but having a text heavy intro transition into a text heavy tutorial is like drinking from a fire hose.

What a complex game! I included it in my GM48: Sixty Seconds compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/nuQFkyHHiV8

I really enjoy the puzzle aspect of this and the artwork is really well made, my only issue is that it is quite a lot of information to digest straight away, especially from a large wall of text. I think this may involve more investment than a minute so I'll have to revisit it, good entry though, I enjoyed it :)

Are you allowed to use scribble? Dont all assets and code need to be created in the 48 hrs?
