Play as Sunglasses Man, a grapple-hooking pilot who breaks everything he touches!
Unfortunately, I ran out of time for designing levels, enemies and combat sequences -- the game ends at the 5th level, which is a dead end. This is very much a proof-of-concept game.
Regardless, I hope you will enjoy flinging around with the finely-tuned grapple hook!

This is a really cool concept and would be nice to see it developed further. It is fun to fling yourself round with the grappling hook and bounce of bullets. I think the best thing is the slide though. I think it only helps at one particular moment and yet I just found myself doing it a lot since I liked the animation and it felt good to do haha.
The sprite work on the character was very nice. He was very bouncy and animated.
Is it actually possible to get that health pack in the top left corner on the first level? I tried numerous times and couldn't manage it so not sure if it is possible or not. If it is possible then I just don't quite have the mechanics down enough to get it.
Overall it was a lot of fun to play around in and I hope to see more of it in the future.

It’s kinda sad such an animated character is trapped in a world of grey blocks.
Pretty fun engine you got, only real complaint is that it feels like the reel Key would feel better mapped to the Left mouse instead of E.
It just feels more natural, and I found myself trying to use the left mouse for it, a few times because it felt so right.
Pretty decent job you did here!

Hey thanks for playing! It is regrettable that Sunglasses Man is stuck in gray block purgatory 😔. I focused completely on gameplay this time around -- next time, I aim to work on a balanced, "complete" experience with visuals. Fully agree with jank control scheme as well.

Smooth engine, and the grapple system is very impressive. As others have said, it looks and feels like a Flash game (the bouncy character sprites and momentum-based gameplay gave me serious Fancy Pants vibes). An excellent proof of concept, and I hope you continue working on it when the Jam is over!

Great job on this. The mechanics are impressive and smooth (could be smoother, but pretty great within the 48 hours). And the game hooks you with a level of difficulty that's just right :)

Sunglasses man is very fun (and difficult) game. I didn't exactly understand why I would double jump higher some times, but other than that congrats on a first jam!

Player movement and mechanics are super cool! Good work on it, I'd love to see this continue to evolve since there are so many cool ideas in it :)

I really like how smooth the movement of the player is, you've really worked hard on the movement, grapple hook and capture mechanics of the game here which is impressive, I think you have great foundations here to build on - I the timing can be difficult so some elements like sound and backgrounds are missing here but with these foundations you can really expand on this, great entry! :)

This is a fun goofy little game, it kinda gives me the vibes of old 2000s flash games (which is very nostalgic for me so that's a good thing!). I think the jump was just a little too short, even with the double jump if I didn't get it just right it was hard to reach areas I was supposed to be able to get to. But the grappling mechanic is cool. Good work on the jam!

Thanks for playing! In the little time I had designing levels, I tried to encourage learning how to "fling" with the grappling hook. If you learn how to fling yourself off grapple points, you can reach the 3rd medkit in the tutorial room and you'll realize just how overpowered the hook is as a movement option :D
