This was very neat. The 3D graphics are simple and fun, and while the bottle puzzle was pretty trivial I enjoyed the other ones a lot. The soundscape was also pretty great too. Good job!

This was nice. I would have liked a bit more to interact with, but I can really see the potential with the mini games. It reall felt like those old-school text adventure rpgs with the ability to navigate the world through your dialog selections. Great work!

Hey you lied, this isn't a text adventure, it's just an adventure game!

Great game anyways :) The bottle puzzle didn't really bring anything, but the shell and color ones were nice. Also, the game is pretty small so it doesn't really matter and you can deduce it, but it's not very clear what the coins are where completing puzzles, or even that you pick them up (I got back to the shells just to see if I missed something).

Fun take on the theme! The puzzles were all unique, and not too hard. The text was a little slow-- I wish there were some way to speed it up. Also, forcing open the chest doesn't add much to the game, and it just kills you. I almost completed the game, but tried that option just to see what it did, and I had to restart the whole thing. I did enjoy it enough to go back and complete it again-- but a lot of players wouldn't have had that patience. The sound design was also good, and it's rare to see a 3d GM48 game. Nice job!

I wanted the player to get killed on the first screen but good point about getting punished for curiosity. Left click speeds up the text. Thanks for playing

The sound design is eerie, I really like it! And the visuals were a very unique style compared to anything else in this jam.

Great take on a text adventure, the little minigames really add a lot of interactive puzzleyness. I would just like a bit more control with the UI, like being able to skip ahead on text, and maybe having a settings menu where I can quit out or adjust sounds.

Thanks! I really liked making this and will probably try another one like it with the improvements you mentioned

I really enjoyed this, the atmopshere was executed brilliantly and the adventure was more in depth than I thought with some impressive moments of story telling - I think the logo might be a little offputting as it undersells how good the rest of the game is, it's an interesting game overall and I enjoyed it! :)

Short and sweet. It did crash for me when trying to play it again, I didn't chase the birds away on my first playthrough and wanted to see if there was something that I missed.

The 3d was nice and smooth and an enjoyable little adventure all around.

This was a nice surprise! From the title I expected a "pure" text adventure, wasn't expecting a graphically-charged little point and click complete with neat puzzles. It really did feel like a bitesize DOS game.

< Spoilers to the game events for anyone reading reviews before playing >

I wasn't quite expecting to be eaten by the chest on my first try, but you live and learn xD The bottle puzzle was a little overly simple - might have been cool to have something a little more challenging. The shell puzzle was a great addition though. And the final puzzle was clever, although I feel like you got the colours wrong - you seemed to be using paint colours (eg. yellow+blue=green) where I'd've expected light colours (eg. red+green=yellow).

    < End puzzle spoilers >

The presentation was fairly basic - I found the gradiented text a little hard to read - but it didn't bring down what you were going for. It functionally worked, and even for the graphics just being a handful of slides, it still felt like I was walking around the island.

I was super fond of this, fantastic work! 😄

Thank you for the good and constructive feedback. My use of primary colors was definitely a face palm moment. Glad you liked it though

Great text-based adventure game! The 3D art style kinda reminds me of Myst. The puzzles are clever, and I like the alternate endings that result from making reckless decisions.

  • Quentin Van Deutekom

This was fun! The 3D really helps set this apart, I enjoyed all the Island and the puzzles were pretty fun too, I don't want to spoil anything but the game has great character and the Game over & game win screens were my favorites. Good job

I enjoyed this! The puzzles weren't too hard but required at least enough thinking to make me feel satisfied. The 3D rendered scenes were a nice touch to make it feel a little different than the typical Gamemaker game too!

Respectable game. Nice 3D art and fun little mini puzzles in there. Not too much to see, but that's understandable given the time constraints. Nice job

Think the game was really cool. I was expecting more of a choose your own adventure type of story. I was not expecting it to have this kind of point and click like gameplay as well. Though the 3D looks kind of cute, the intro of the main menu and the deep beat you hear as the island spins around sets a tone that I felt was actually pretty ominous! Coupled with the atmospheric sounds, I think the game definitely left some feelings of dread about it. That was awesome and effective!

    colour

This wasn't a big deal but I think for this image, the text said something about how a red and yellow piece were missing. However, the image had no indication it was a red and yellow piece. Also, it wasn't super important at this stage to know it needed to be a red and yellow piece. I think writing wise, you could have said oh there are gems/coins missing from the containers. I didn't realise immediately which images had a vital part missing because of the colour descriptor.

    error

After I got through the game the first time, I tried playing it again to see if I could get other endings. I encountered this crash and had to restart the game.

Overall I liked the 3D of the game. The camera movement and transitions were satisfying so it did feel like exploring. I really liked the shells puzzle too. I found the shells before the birds and was having fun clicking them to hear the noises. It was immersive that way. it was also a nice detail on the birds sounding quiet when you're further away from them. Gave a feeling of exploration like you are in a real area!

    Nice work!

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback and for finishing the game. I did notice that bug afterwards and hoped noone else would. At the last second I changed the "End Game" option from closing the game to going back to the title screen but I didn't realize there was a persistant object that needed to be reset to allow another playthrough, an unfortunate post-submission discovery.

      • Happysquared

Not super unfortunate at least. Always better to have a bug come right at the end of the game so people can still enjoy what you've made (:

  • AlexInCube

    nice story
