I wanted to try my hand at the idle game genre. Hold shift to purchase 5x more!
Unfortunately, a bunch of life stuff came up so it's only a tiny shell of what I had envisioned. The objective is simple, build houses which generate money from rent. With that money, you can build more houses, upgrade your tools and win the game! Art and code by me. Music and sounds from GM asset bundles.
Hopefully someone finds it mildly amusing! That'd be a huge success

Always appreciate being able to play as the villain! Really liked the 3d presentation. No idea how you made those dynamic shadows but they look really nice. Makes me want to mess around with 3D in game maker again.

Who would have guessed how much I like being a greedy landlord! All jokes aside, although theres not much to do, I really enjoy your game and seeing how many houses I could get. I tried to build 3000 but I didn't want to wait much longer (edit: I didn't realize after I hit okay it would give me 3500 houses). With a little more development, this could be a fun mobile game! Great Job!

The 3d was nice. There wasn't much there for gameplay even for an idle game but the graphics were very impressive for a jam.

I am not really a fan of idle games, but the pacing in this was pretty good. The 3d graphics are quite impressive (I don't have any idea how you achieved the outline and the shadows). It was a nice fun relaxing experience. Good job.

cute cozy gameplay aside, I am quite impressed by the presentaion! Are there any tutorials you could recommend to do pseudo-3D perspectives like that in GameMaker 2?
One suggestion regarding gameplay I would make is have the button autoclick after some time of holding a click on it; click spamming can get quite tiresome after a while, haha

Thanks! Here's a good tutorial: https://gamemaker.io/en/blog/utilizing-3d-cameras-in-2d-games
By the way, you can hold shift to buy 5 houses at once! In the post jam version, I made that work for all buttons. Just didn't have the time during the jam

Hello again, I streamed my playing your game you can watch the vod here: https://www.twitch.tv/singleshotgamer
I did like what amount of game you did have, I do regret opening the stream on a bit of a slower paced game but it was not a bad time at all. Good job!

Damnit Xor, you know how to get right in to my dopamine centres! Number go up is just such a classic thing to hook people in and with its calming vibe and cute atmosphere (impressivley in 3D as well) playing this game just really left me with such a satisfied feeling - great job!

Idle games man, ugh xD
This was really sweet. Despite your own admission of it lacking in content, wow did it generally deliver - a beautiful graphical style that was almost needlessly polished in some ways (loved the outline shader, the changing money icon depending on your current wealth, and how everything just pulsed and animated generally), with great music and SFX to boot.
Part of me wishes there was more to this. The other part of me didn't need to spend hours on a new idle game. 😄

And this is why I need to never play cookie clicker. What's the gem at 100k? Generic super shiny thing or some actual thing? Anyway, dopamine working as intended (TM). Went to 1m just to see how far you bothered to go.
