I recently uploaded a small devlog showing the process of me creating this entry: To the video!
GAMEPLAY
You need to avoid traffic hazards like other drivers, pedestrians and traffic cones by changing lanes, quickly reacting to stuff that comes your way.
There is an in-game HOW TO, but in short:
- Use the arrow keys (or the left stick or the D-pad on controller) to accelerate, brake and change lanes.
- Collect helmets to get one extra hit point
- Avoid traffic
- You can evade onto the sidewalk, but only for a short time before the police busts you (the blue bar in the UI)
- To finish a level you have to survive a certain amount of time, indicated by the bar in the UI.
-ENTER, SPACE and the A-BUTTON used to confirm in menus -ESC, START and the B-BUTTON used to go back in menus
Progress is saved between play sessions! Can you beat all 9 levels?

Just about everything about this game is really well done! Like others, I noticed some of the hitboxes are a bit... large? or maybe just unforgiving.
But wow! I really enjoyed the audio of the bike! I love that you picked tones that were complimentary to the music. Bravo!

Thanks for the kind words! For the hitboxes, unforgiving would be the right term. This is the actual hitbox of the scooter:
So it gives you a few pixels of leeway on either side, but maybe that was too little, even tho the package is not covered by it :D
Thanks again for playing!

I'll +1 on the hitbox, I took most of my damage by thinking it was safe to switch lane.
Overall a nice and really funny game. I really like how the new elements forces you to change how you play, you can't just hug the left side of the screen forever. Though I think there could have been fewer early levels. I also like the idea of the sidewalk, though I rarely used it because I was scared to be trapped since there can be obstacles there too. Overall I think the game was a little too fast for my ageing mind 👴 (and I think the background moved a little too fast to be comfortable, visually)

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I know exactly what you mean with the background going too fast. I could get somewhat jarring for me as well :D
Thank you again for playing!

This is a very well polished game! Unfortunately I didn't get very far through the levels because I kept switching lanes too fast and having the end of my bike hit obstacles ahaha. The sidewalk mechanic is hilarious.

Thanks for the compliment! Yeah I was actually thinking about making the hitbox more lenient, but the deadline was approaching so I decided against it :D

Well at first I thought it was easy, then the bikers were hard (partially because I didn't realize you could go forwards and backwards), then the fog was harder and the bikers in the fog were crazy. The difficulty in this game got really high, but I was able to beat it, and it was done well because even though it was tough, it felt fair and I really wanted to beat it. The art also was really nice, all the animations were great and the sound was good as well. All in all, this is a great entry!

Really liked how clean the art and UI looked. Game was very simple but the little twists thrown in made it surprisingly fun to play! I thought I found some exploit when I first started driving on the sidewalk and than laughed out loud when the police caught me.

I spent more time playing this entry than most of the others so far - it's really challenging! I like how there became a need to slow down/speed up introduced in level 5 - before that, I just stayed as far to the left as possible. You could have been a bit more lenient with the hit box, but I only say this because I'm not very good haha! Very polished and complete submission - fantastic work!

Wow that's really high praise, thank you so much! I believe it's not that you are bad, it's me making the game waay too hard because I lost my sense for difficulty over the weekend haha
Thank you for playing!

An old classic game made into a fun little GameJam, I like it! And it's surprisingly difficult as well, although I'm glad the main character didn't die, just got to the hospital :P I find it quite impressive how you managed to make so much and polish it in such a short time. I can't really find anything bad about it to be honest!

It's not the most original in terms of gameplay, but you were still able to execute that gameplay pretty well. The sidewalk threw a bit of an interesting wrench into things (although not something I often took advantage of while playing), and having the helmet powerup was also a nice way to get me to go out of my way to get it. I did not like the cars that changed lanes, and while I realize it's because they were about to hit a cone it was already difficult enough keeping track of when I was going to hit something, not to mention when a car was about to hit something. Even though they were technically predictable, those always felt the most unfair to me. Still, I think for the most part
Besides that I have an important question. We can see non-rabbit people in this game. Does this company only hire rabbits? Are there racist hiring practices in this world? Or do they only put rabbits in the dangerous delivery job, where the drivers often end up
deadhospitalized? Someone needs to take GoHare to court we have a strong lawsuit on our hands.SubmittedTaxi Trouble

Thanks for the useful feedback! Very interesting to hear that the cars felt unfair. Maybe some exclamation mark indicator or something would've helped a lot.
Glad you liked it anyway! :)
And yeah, there are some preetty bad things going on in the animal kingdom, it seems :O

Fun and stressful, a good combo! I enjoyed the cute graphics and the snappy controls. All the obstacles seemed fair EXCEPT for those mean car drivers who would unpredictably just swerve right into you! Usually you're able to avoid that by driving past them two lanes apart from them but that's not always possible.
I almost screamed in the last level where there's fog and one of those bikers came driving 100 mph from behind. I made it nonetheless!

Nice, congratulations on finishing it! :D Always nice to hear that the last levels weren't made for nothing haha
Fun fact, the cars actually avoid traffic cones by switching lanes!
Thanks for the feedback and your kind words, really glad you liked it!

Really responsive controls, but wow, this was fairly brutal! I only managed completing level 1 after multiple attempts; cars kept changing lanes right infront of me, and the cone sequence at the start of L2 alone damaged me at least once every time 😅
Kudos on such a polished experience nonetheless - there is a lot to enjoy here, and it's mainly just my patience holding me back!

Thanks for the review! Yeah, this was the big "i'm losing my sense for difficulty" problem while developing a game :D It gets REAL hard in the last 3 levels, all of the people that tested the game struggled hard, but it was too late to change ease it up without breaking everything haha.
Thanks for the kind words and thank you for playing!

Cute! I liked all the little details, like the menu with the tagline, the creative healthbar, or how breaking, cruising and speeding had different tones, that you could play to the music. I was surprised at how many different end screens (e.g. "delievered", "hospital") there were. Even a full fledged animation for "dying" lol. These details made the game feel more alive, and had me exploring the world outside the goal of the game. It does have one issue: the balance between gameplay complexity and level length. The only real thing the player has to worry about is pressing up or down twice to dodge oncoming obstacles for what feels like whole 2 minutes. This is just too long for me to want to play all 9 levels. Despite that, a good game for something made in 48 hours.

Thanks for the insightful feedback and for the praise! :) Yeah, I had plans to change it up a bit with a jumping mechanic and a score system, for example. I don't know how many levels you played, but new obstacles get added later on that change things up quite a bit ;) There's a huge difficulty spike as well in level 7!
Thanks again for playing and the constructive criticism!

Overall, a fun and polished game which does a good job at fulfilling the theme, and has simple, fun, and easy to understand gameplay. The art style is nice, and reminds me of a lot of flash games I used to play to pass the time, and I really like the soundtrack (though, it doesn't seem like the music loops, which means midway through the level the music I'm jamming to transforms into a sorta eerie silence lmao)
Apart from that though, I honestly don't have much bad to say about the game I like the idea that you're able to drive on the sidewalk for a little while if you want to play it safe or avoid a lot of obstacles, but that you can't stay on there too long unless you're willing to get busted (speaking of which, I really like the art shown whenever you either complete a delivery, or get busted by the cops).
So yeah, good job on the game jam, will be looking forward to your next entry!

Thanks so much for your feedback! Very happy about the praise! For the music...yeah it does not loop, but usually the music is set to pretty much the duration of the levels, so maybe if the game somehow slows down at some point it does not match anymore...should've just made it loop, so it fits, but in case something goes wrong you're not confronted with silence as you were :D
Thanks again!

This game really took me back to the feeling that I had playing games on these flash game websites! The art style is lovely and despite being made in (probably under) 48 hours, it has a LOT of variety! Multiple cars/drivers, pedestrians and also two types of levels with their own sort of "feeling" and vibe. The sound design is also very good! Simple sound effects and a banger soundtrack :D
The last thing I want to mention is just how polished this game actually feels! No bugs, crashes or unstable feeling have occured during my playthrough and the game just felt solid and refined overall.
Keep up the good work!
