Summary

Trap-Down is a simple yet enjoyable top-down wave shooter that many players found fun and satisfying. The game's art, sound, and effects contribute well to its arcade vibe, though some noted issues with sound volume and bomb mechanics. While the gameplay is classic and well-executed, some players suggested improvements like more varied maps and better enemy damage feedback. Overall, it was praised for polish and replayability despite minor balance and audio concerns.

Super fun game! It felt really great whenever I got lucky enough drops to chain multiple bombs 🤣

A pretty solid foundation for future development. Obvious issue with the death sound effects in combo with the bomb. Shotgun wasn't good until later in the game whenever you received enough damage upgrades. The game scales over-favorably in the player's favor as you eventually become an unkillable god of destruction. I had to stop playing because the bomb+death sounds were breaking my brain

Cool idea! I think I'd've made the early enemies a wee bit weaker as it took me a few seconds to realise I was actually just meant to be damaging them - maybe some really weak one-HP ones to pepper the beginning or throughout as cannon fodder would have mitigated this? Good game though, well polished and responsive to play!

The sounds volume D: I feared taking bombs because every time the sound of dying enemies would get louder to the point of clipping. But bombs were also necessary.
The upgrade are satisfying but that's also because the base weapon is super weak, so later waves depended mostly on what upgrades were available. And you couldn't really strategise since everything is on a time, the best option is always to take it.
Other good effects and stuff, I only wish enemies showed when they take damage, and upgrades / pickups were blinking when about to disappear.

I was really impressed by this entry. While it isn't the most original idea, you pulled off a classic game very well. It was just really fun to run around and shoot stuff, and with all of the upgrades, sound effects and the art style working together very well. Good work!

This is a prime example of a simple concept executed really well - the colour scheme, screen-shake, effects, gameplay, it's all very nicely done and it comes together to make a fun shooter that just makes you keep wanting to come back for more, great job, I enjoyed this one!

I really like the art and the music here. The game is simple, but gets the job very well done. My only complaint is that the bomb is just too OP, and at some point the game becomes all about waiting for the bomb to spawn and run for it, and if more enemies drop a bomb, run for them too in a chain of explosions. That just kills the fun a little you know? But nonetheless pretty fun game, I got to wave 37 and scored 53275 points!

A good time was had! Being dropped into a oddly shaped cellar with bald men approaching from every angle there was much going on. Never a boring moment! I managed to get to wave 36 with a score of 48525 points. Maybe a new map here and there would add some variance? But it was really satisfying seeing all the baddies dissapear with every bomb and the sounds contributed to the 80s arcade vibe which you definitely succeeded in making.

score I made it to wave 29 with 24650 points. Fun little shooter. The screen shake was a lot and I got stuck a few times against the walls but it was a nice game. Well done.

This was a fun yet simple entry! The wave-based top-down shooter is a oldie but a goodie.

Classic top down wave shooter. The death splatter animation is really satisfying.
